As far as formatting goes, we have constructed a main tag for each of our five emperors. We then have subset bars from each of these parent pages taking the viewer to research questions, the biography, the bibliography, the timeline, inscriptions, and coinage.
How to Read Inscriptions
- Any text you see in parentheses means it wasn’t on the original inscription, but was either abbreviated or implied. The Romans used commonly understood abbreviations very often.
- We are often able to date these inscriptions not only by the emperor they refer to, but more specifically by the tribune or consulship the inscription cites.
